Four salesmen Alan, Ian, Steve and Tim are on their way to a conference where only one of them is guaranteed promotion. There is much bickering, Steve is perpetually sick and gets put in the boot, the C.D. player jams and they have a run-in with a Range Rover driver. When the car breaks down in a snowstorm they wind up in a deserted cottage with a shotgun-wielding, diabetic woman.

Salesmen Alan,Ian,Tim and the pushy Tony are on a plane on their way to a sales conference. Alan joins the mile high club with a model in the toilet but Tim is annoyed that he is two air miles short of joining the others in club class. On arrival in North Africa they decide to charter a plane rather than face a fifteen mile coach journey to the conference but the pilot collapses and dies and they crash land in the desert. After several efforts to try and get off the ground they decide to kill each other,unaware that they are not far from a beach resort.

The partisan Welichko is given the task of rescuing four Russian prisoners of war who are in one of the freight cars of a German train.

In the context of “watching with your ears”, a SOUND & NARRATIVE workshop that was scheduled to happen at the 2020 festival, composer Han Otten along with Cinedans dramaturg (and sound fetishist) Nienke Rooijakkers put together a two-day workshop for choreographers / filmmakers and composers / sound designers. A mix between master class and hands-on workshop, full of practical assignments, exchange and a lot of listening! We are very sorry to disappoint all the participants. To make up for it, the film Car Men by composer Han Otten is available online for 4 days. Han reinterpreted George Bizet’s opera Carmen based on the sounds of demolition metal and the very first recording of Carmen, from 1908. Put on headphones and enjoy the special film and the equally spectacular sound score. Han Otten is a composer for film, dance performance and television – and has collaborated with Boris Paval Conen, Jiří Kylián and Krizstina de Châtel, among others. In addition to her work for Cinedans, Nienke Rooijakkers is a dramaturge and a director of soundwalks. Car Men is a collaboration between the renowned choreographer Jíri Kylían, filmmaker Boris Paval Conen and composer Han Otten. Based on the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet, they shot this hilarious and poetic film in the destroyed landscape of a Czech brown coal mine. The actors in this film are four older dancers of NDT and the main prop is a Tatra 87, a famous car from 1937. With Sabine Kupferberg, Gioconda Barbuta, David Krügel and Karel Hruška of the renowned NDT 3, the division of the Dutch Dance Theater for dancers between the ages of forty and sixty, that closed in 2006 after 15 years.

For Anja, taking unpaid leave from her financial management position. Despite the risks, the plan was simple - pack a rucksack, head off for new adventures and enjoy some precious months by themselves. Or so they thought. The plans did not change, but the cast became a little larger. Two weeks after they adopted twin baby boys, they found out Anja was pregnant. Despite suddenly being a family of five, they were determined not to miss out on the fun. Ollie, Max and Freddie were all just about a year old when they set off.

The lawyer Emil Fencl (Otomar Krejca) has retired and returns from his countryside place of work to Prague, to his own villa inhabited by his nephews - Karel with his wife Jitka and the single Michal. On the train, he meets a pleasant criminologist named Kudrna (Karel Höger). Michal (Jan Tríska), a not too successful motorcycle racer, picks up his uncle at the railway station. From their conversation it becomes obvious that he is very jealous of Karel, a successful scientist who is soon to leave for a congress in the United States. Upon their arrival at the villa, there is a tragedy. Pressing the doorbell causes a gas explosion and a subsequent fire. Karel is found dead in his study. It seems that he himself took his life. The investigator, Captain Kudrna, finds out that Karel had just discovered the new element luridium and had no reason to commit suicide. Despite this, all attempts to prove foul play fail.

The offstage lives of four club performers who are staying in the same guest house and rubbing their illusions and disillusions together after-hours.

A man, thought to be dead, returns to his hometown in Florida. He finds his wife re-married and the town now ruled by corrupt forces.
